Dr.
Kesslering is the Medical
Director of Radiation Oncology at Alexian
Brothers Cancer Center.
She is also treats patients
at St. Alexius Cancer Center
in Hoffman Estates.
She is board-certified
in Radiation Oncology.
After completing medical
school at Loyola University
and residency at the
University of Wisconsin,
she joined Radiation
Oncology Consultants,
Ltd., where she has
been in private practice
since 2000.
Dr.
Kesslering has extensive
expertise in treating
breast cancer, especially
with the use of High-Dose
Rate brachytherapy treatment,
including Mammosite.
She also has expertise
in stereotactic radiosurgery
including specialized
training in the use
of the GammaKnife for
the treatment of benign
and malignant brain
tumors. She is experienced
in the use of 3-D conformal
radiation therapy, and
intensity modulated
radiation therapy (IMRT).
She also enjoys caring
for patients with cancers
of the lung, rectum
and skin as well as
lymphomas. Dr. Kesslering
is active in numerous
professional organizations,
as well as the Cancer
Committee at Alexian
Brothers Hospital where
she acts as the Quality
Improvement Chairperson.
Dr. Kesslering spends her leisure
time with her husband and 4 children.
She loves staying active by
playing volleyball and tennis.
When asked why she chose Radiation
Oncology, she states,
"I love being able to teach
my patients and their families
about their disease and to help
alleviate their symptoms. I also
enjoy the constantly changing
technical side of radiation
oncology and being able to
perform specialized procedures."
