During the past 2 years, Lutheran General was named one of the top 100 hospitals in the USA in a "Hospitals: Benchmarks for Success" study of more than 3,000 acute care hospitals in the country. It was rated the #1 hospital in the Chicago area for quality of care and #2 overall in a 1998 "Chicago's Top Hospitals" survey of 82 hospitals. In addition, Lutheran General ranked first in the city in oncology services. In 2006 once again, in U.S. News & World Report’s study of top hospitals, Lutheran General was ranked in the top 50 for cancer care in the U.S.

The newly built Center for Advanced Care is located adjacent to the hospital in a free-standing facility. Radiation Oncology treatment facilities are located both on the ground floor of the hospital and in the outpatient clinic in the Center for Advanced Care (1700 Luther Lane, just west of the hospital).
